Welcome to Dynasty GM Baseball. Looks like we have a great group of owners.
A couple things to go over real quick.
If you have not done so already, please complete the following:
1) note your keeper with salary info in the Franchise Selected thread
2) accept the rules by posting "I Accept" in the rules acceptance thread
3) change your screen name to reflect your franchise and include your first name or preferred nickname - we do this because many of us are in multiple leagues and may know 3 different Braves teams and it's easier to remember who you are
4) create a team page
Please have these items done ASAP.
Some basic expectations as we move closer to the draft:
Draft start date and more specific info on the draft will be posted this Monday. We ask that you check in at least once a day between now and the start of the draft, in case any new information is posted.
The draft format is a slow draft where a 20 round Majors and 20 round minors will run concurrently. This draft will take approximately 2-4 weeks to complete, depending on how active everyone is. Most of the rounds will be slotted one hour increments, with the possibility of 1/2 hour slots later in the draft if we aren't moving along on a pace to finish before the season starts. You will need to be active during these few weeks. Checking in only once a day during the draft probably will not work unless you want to hand off a large list to someone who will be around and can post for you. This is perfectly fine and most of us will have to provide a list to someone at some point since life does happen. There will be overnight pauses to the draft so you don't have to worry about being slotted in the middle of the night, unless you live in England, sorry Gaz. Ideally, you will check in sometime in the evening or early morning to see where your time slot is and can either check in frequently to see if people ahead of you have already picked so that you can pick early, or simply come back at your designated time slot to make your pick. Provide a list to an admin or trusted GM if you won't be able to make your slot.
Now is the time to start preparing your board. Especially, if you can't check in 15 times a day during the draft. Being prepared will better enable you to hand off a list if need be.
Some rules highlights that may be important to be familiar with before drafting:
*when we get to free agency, the maximum number of years any contract can be bid is 5 years
*international signees will be in our inaugural draft, if they signed at age 23 or under they are in the minors draft and age 24 and over will go to our Majors draft. We are making an exception and allowing Moncada, Ibanez and Olivera to be draft eligible even if they do not sign prior to the draft. There may be other guys we make exceptions on if they get declared a FA before the draft, so check for updates.
*rosters will be set weekly on Fantrax as opposed to daily
*when selecting a player, keep in mind all contract options such as player, club, mutual, or opt out are team options in this league
*regular season will be roto and playoffs will be H2H with the 2 division winners getting the top 2 seeds and 6 wild card teams with the most points getting in also
