2018 UFA SP Results

[Free Agent Bids]

There were 21 teams that placed bids and a lot of priority lists. The bids were pretty clean - a couple had AAS that were not in denominations of $100K but ended up being inconsequential. There were two bids that were disqualified for salary spread errors that were of consequence. Make sure you are checking over the bidding guidelines before submitting.

Bids with AAS of more than $7M can be spread no more than 80%/120% of the AAS in any given year. Your bid spread the years 75%/125% and thus was invalidated.

From Rule 6 - "Bids with AAS of 7,000,001 or greater:

Any year of the contract can't be paid under 80% or over 120%"

My bid was - Josh Tomlin - 2 yrs /$7.5M - AAS $3.75M ;

Why was mine disqualified- because the AAS was not round #?

The rules say:

The minimum increment for a bid is 100k. Bids that include any denomination lower than 100k (i.e. 50K, 10k, 1k, 100, 10 etc.) will be considered invalid and will not count.

This doesn't say anything about AAS - only "bids".

Please clarify this issue for me.

In the case of our free agent bidding, the AAS is the bid. That's what wins or loses the player. I apologize if that was unclear.

Fwiw, I have disqualified my own bids in the past for the same issue - and I know the rules pretty well. I also have $30M on my books in waivers that I have to eat over the next three years because I stupidly missed the deadline to pull back my rev waivers last season.

It will work out.
