Upon further review, the A's have found that David Price's contract offered to him by the winning RFA team is actually invalid. The 2016 salary offered is listed at $18.7M, however (by the 80/120 rule) the minimum salary that must be offered with the given AAS of $23.4M is $18.72M (meaning that, when rounding to the tenths place and accounting for the fact that the salary cannot drop below that number, the minimum salary is $18.8M). Subsequently, the offered 2017 salary of $28.1M exceeds the maximum value permitted by the 80/120 rule of $28.08M.
This makes the winning bid invalid then, correct? Which would mean another bid wins or that I get Price on a minimum contract?

Couldn't immediately find them and want to make sure I don't make a mistake with any bids in future.

Royals and As - I'm pretty sure it'll go to the next highest bid. Nice try though.

It's just that the minimum/maximum amounts were exceeded here because the dollar amounts were rounded the wrong way. When you multiply the AAS by 0.8, you can't go lower than that no matter what. When you multiply the AAS by 1.2, you can't go higher than that no matter what.

Might be worth getting a steer from the LMs on though and, if you're right, making it clear in the rules. Seems unlikely it will matter much here, but could be messy in the future.
