Hey, anyone know anything about baseball cards? Someone just gave us four of those giant Tupperware storage tubs filled with old baseball cards -- not from the 50/60s, but from the late 80.s/early 90s. Includes several unopened boxes of Upper Deck, Topps, Leaf, etc and albums of assorted rookie cards for Frank Thomas, Bo Jackson, Ken Griffey Jr... even a Don Mattingly signed baseball with his 1984 Rookie card. Tons of cards to go through. We have gotten all the nuances of collecting cards; so long ago...
The deal is, we have to sell the stuff and give her half the $$ we get. She had all these in her attic and is moving. Her sons told her we were the best source to move these things. heh heh
Any ideas how do we sell this stuff? We know nothing about EBay etc. or collecting anymore. Did it with son, back in the day... We looked up a couple of cards online and they appear to be pretty valuable.
Basically we want to sell them without getting scalped.

You can piece them out and get the most for them, either on eBay or another auction site. This takes the most amount of work but biggest payoff. Or you could take them to a resale shop or eBay seller and pay them to do the legwork. It's really up to how much you think your time is worth... 80's and 90's cards are worth very little when not mint and not already graded and in cases. Grading costs more and I wouldnt recommend it for any cards under $50

These are not loose cards in a giant box. They are in plastic sleeves, in albums and in unopened boxes. Upper Deck, Topps Fleer, Leaf etc. Autographed Tino Martinez Team USA card, for example. All the early Bo Jackson, Ken Griffey Jr and Frank Thomas cards to name the most prominent guys. But also the other names, like Wade Boggs, Don Mattingly, Mark McQuire, Jose Canseco, etc...

Someone in Ruthian suggested we get them certified to get best value. How do we get them certified? Where do we find a certifier?

www.psacard.com/services/www.psacard.com/fees/In reality, the Fleer, Topps, and Upper Deck standard sets have little value even at mint. The one off sets, like any gold flake sets are the ones that retain value... But like I said, card collecting boomed in the 80's and many people have Griffy rookie cards, so even if value is high, demand is low. Honestly, I would just offer the boxes up in a lot and take what you get for them.

We did. But Mom threw them all away when we went to the military service in 1962.
