Just a thought for a future rule change, but why don’t we increase the size of the minor league rosters in this league? Other dynasty leagues have a higher number of MILB roster spots, and as it’s fun following prospects you own. So I wonder whether we should do the same here? I think it would benefit all teams equally (if anything may help rebuilding teams to close the gap by holding more prospects while still running out a MLB roster). And, as with any rule changes, the proposal would be for it to apply next season.
Anyway, just thought I would suggest it to see what the Commissioner and other people think.

Why? Seems like things work just fine now.
Part of the challenge here is managing within roster limits. A change here isnt really better just different.
Also, this sorta change will tend to benefit the best teams as they already have more assets, so it just makes it easier for them to stockpile more. The deeper we keep, future drafts will be slightly weaker etc.
I actually think the prime setup is a touch smaller milb. Having fewer spots helps spur some activity as good/deep teams have to shift depth out due to roster size (I’m not suggesting that because its hard to make such changes after people have planned out things, so no proposal from me).

Agree with the Braves, for a couple reasons. Deepening the prospect pool creates even more opportunities for prospect hoarding and makes for fewer interesting/tougher roster decisions. It also likely, makes the league less competitive as come trade deadline each year teams will feel the need to offload their best ML assets just because they're out of contention. I vote for more competition. There are teams in this league that have been non competitive for 4 years simply because they're stock piling prospects on a pipe dream.
I also think it creates less interesting, potentially lopsided trades. Where the good/competing teams feel more inclined to offer a slew of low level 40/45 for real ML assets. Rarely, do these trades benefit the prospect hoarders. It merely extends their window.
I've gone over this before. While I love the prospect game, many owners in these formats are doing 1 of 2 things. Over valuing prospects thinking all their guys are future All Stars or...continually failing to understand this isn't real basbeall. It's ROTO, and there's a difference between good real life players and good fantasy players.
The prospect pool feels deep enough to me.

Fair enough. I just enjoy the deep prospecting, and it is fun being able to have a rooting interest in more players. But I can see the point about it thinning out the player pool for future drafts. And guess that is trickier in a league where you can use salary for prospect bidding. Anyway, just thought I would throw it out there. And no point unbalancing a great league if people are happy as we are.

I agree with Tim and Anthony.
In the spirit of Ben's suggestion, though, which I think has merit, maybe we could add a round to the January/February prospect draft? I seem to recall more than a few GMs updating their trade blocks in search of 5th-round picks.

Ben. I'm in a league with a 180 spec farm. It's extremely deep and realistic. Let me know if you would like an intro to the Commish.

The league is clever. 28 team, five+ round drafts, same for J2, then autodraft the rest of your team's real life class. Rule 5 too. It's basically everybody in the pool.

If you want a deep league, I'm in a league where we have 30 teams of :
31 MLB 5 DL 10 FYP draft roster (10 round draft held each November, draftees to be incorporated into your MILB roster by end of following year all star break - leads to a flurry or prospect releases in July) 10 IFA Roster 60 MILB roster
8 x 8 scoring on Fantrax, H2H with Inter-League play and playoffs.
Roughly best 3,500 players are owned. It's deep, tough & fun - good bunch of very active owners. If you're looking for a challenge pm me.

Cool- thanks. I’m in three leagues already, but will definitely keep it in mind for the future. Sounds like a fun setup.
