hes still owed his full contract, you can buyout all at once or waive and pay 50% per year. Exceptions, I dont know if we'd grant, but if so itd be on a case by case basis for sthg like an unexpected injury. so unlikely if its ARod since a 40yo retiring is completely predictable.......

Prince would be a special exception, cut short by injury unexpectedly. You'll need to get confirmation he qualifies from Rob. His salary would come off next year (you still owe this year) if so.

If it is an old age guy like Arod you pay the rest of the contract. If it is something like an injury that ends his career like Fielder or something more unfortunate then you just pay there salary for the current year.
