From Rule 5: Free Agency Basics & Rule 6: Free Agency Process and Bidding, bold type in the original...
"The minimum increment for a bid is $100,000. Bids that include any denomination lower than 100k (i.e. 50K, 10k, 1k, 100, 10 etc.) will be considered invalid and will not count."
I have done the same thing, at least twice by my memory. I have been very lenient with GMs so far on bid procedures but I have never let that one slide and it would be unfair of me to start now.
