I'd like to point out that Mookie Betts was just referred to as a "fine young player" by Guapo. One of the 5, most valuable assets in the game of baseball. 2nd in the MVP voting, 9.5 WAR. Fine young player. He's the pinnacle of the sport!! Chris Sale/David Price, it doesn't get more elite than that at the position.
Baltimore has Machado and some sluggers largely benefiting from that launch pad they play in. They're not serious contenders to Boston. Your boy Showalter made one of the biggest coaching blunders in the history of the sport last season. Fine manager. Not Confucius by any means.
You don't have to believe the Cubs and Red Sox are loaded w/ talent, that's fine. But nearly every scout, analyst, front office exec and fan of the sport disagrees. The Cubs entire roster is filled w/ elite prospects (those things you clamor for) who have all shown they're at least average to above average regulars. Mix in truly special talents like Bryant, Rizzo and that's about as good a talent pool the sport can provide.
I would also like to note, you've hyped and held on to Willson Contreras as if he's the next Johnny Bench in your trade discussions but...no mention of him here in regards to the Cubs elite young talent? Did a sour April change your stance? Did I mention all these guys in their low to mid 20's?
Baltimore...Ha.

Guapo, you don't think that Rizzo or Zobrist are any good for the Cubs? I do agree with you in regards to their outfield. With that said, I hope everyone keeps talking about the Cubs and Red Sox so the Dodgers could come out of nowhere and win it this year. Yeah, Dodgers aren't coming out of nowhere. Huge payroll and one of the best farms of the last couple years. Tons of talent on that roster and it's possible they're finally hitting on all cylinders. They've been as good as or better than the Giants for the several seasons and the Giants dirty voodoo may finally be wearing off.

Didn't say the Cubs were no good. Said they were highly romanticized and over-rated. It was a great story. They won, eking out a victory over a very nice to watch Cleveland club, one which we came to enjoy more and more as the hype over the Cubs built.
But 2016 is over. We don't see the Cubs as repeating. Yes, we have watched Zobrist for years in St Pete. Our kind of player. A lot like Logan Forsythe. We like Rizzo a lot, as well. And Addison Russell is no doubt a very sweet guy, as well. And Albert Almora is from Florida and he has some skills. yada yada yada. Doesn't mean the Cubs are going to win the 2017 pennant. As a group, the Cubs players are not the best NL club... not by a long shot.
Over in the AL, the hype machine remains in perpetual high gear with the Bostons. The tiresome gnome, Pedroia. The over-weight Ramirez, who can't even play 1B anymore or bend over for a ground ball. And, yes, 65 at bats does not make Jackie Bradley Junior a mediocre player -- his entire career makes him that. The entire Boston scenario, year after year, how marvelous they are. Ugh. A bunch a New England chowder, tasting vaguely of library paste.

Yeah that is not true that the Dodgers are not coming out of nowhere. They have been good for a while and will continue to be good with the farm system they have.
Back to the Cubs, yes they may be overrated coming into this year, but it is still a very talented baseball team. I think people see the talent they have and it is very difficult to go against what they have on their roster. I do believe that they are a playoff team just not sure if they will repeat as World Series champions since it is a difficult feat to pull off to win 2 in a row. Hell when the Giants won 3 in 5 years that is very difficult to pull off. It is the reason we all love baseball because the game has a lot of factors that can surprise you.

The Giants suck! That's what I got from that. At least we had our prime years...

Giants are bad this year but they are usually good every year. It is the reason why Dodgers/Giants games are so expensive. As a Dodger fan I enjoy watching those games since they seem to be more competitive than other Dodger games in my opinion.

For those thinking Cueto will be difficult to trade, I will remind you that the Padres got Fernando Tatis Jr for James Shields

What did I tell you. Baltimore is 9-21 for their last 30. Their rotation sucks. Pretender.

As an Orioles fan watching us put up 5 runs a game and losing is very frustrating, i feel this is the year that the rotation has finally broken and will actually be on line with sabermetrics for once, Bundy is the only bright spot in the rotation. With this massive slump i can see us dealing away at the deadline, would have nice to be in a situation where we could pick up a couple of solid arms but hey ho
