2017 Revocable Waivers
Alright everybody, the trade deadline has been quiet, with only a few hours to go. Revocable waivers can be made starting tonight at 12 midnight and running through this Friday, August 18 at 11:59pm. Disputed claims will be based on the combined standings as of the end of play today, the lower ranked teams winning disputes.
This is your chance to dangle some nice pieces to see what the market might offer, try to get rid of unwanted fluff, or flip an expiring asset into something of value - all while being able to pull those players back if nothing materializes. Please consult the waiver rules for specifics. Below is the section pertaining specifically to the revocable waiver period.
"After the Trade Deadline, MLB players can be posted on revocable waivers. Any claimed player will be subject to 48 hours for a deal between posting and claiming teams. Failure to agree to a deal will allow the posting team the decision to hold on to the player, or release him to free agency. If a player is held onto by the posting team after 48 hours, he may not be traded at any point until the proceeding offseason. Players may only be posted on revocable waivers once per season. This system is similar to the system that is used in MLB."

Successful waiver claims have been posted.
GMs who own claimed players have four options. Let the player go to the claiming team (with the claiming team taking on 100% of the contract), negotiate a trade with the claiming team, pull the player back, or release the player and pay the normal waiver fee. Decisions on claimed AND UNCLAIMED players need to be posted within 48 hours. Unclaimed players may be traded to any team anytime in the next 48 hours.
If no decision is made on any player posted to revocable waivers (CLAIMED OR UNCLAIMED) by the end of the 48 hour period, the default is that said player is released to free agency and the normal waiver penalties apply.

Here are some points to keep in mind when negotiating rev waivers over the weekend. - Most importantly, if do not pull players back at the end of the 48 hour negotiation period, you HAVE TO buy them out.
- If a player is claimed, you may only trade that player to the team winning the claim.
- Any player who clears waivers may be dealt freely within the allotted time.
- Only players that were placed on waivers and minor leaguers may be traded.
Did I miss anything?

Wouldn’t they be lost to the claiming team if you don’t pull them back instead of buying them out?
