Our slant is the league has deeper structural problems than simply switching the to daily roster updates in 2016. It suffers from paranoia about tanking and streaming SP, as well.
We have a couple of suggestions:
1. Open Daily roster updating NOW. Why wait until the winter? Isn't it better to allow GMs to actually run their rosters right away? Many of the leagues current issues (let's call them issues instead of problems) stem from rules that were put in place as the draft was in progress. So, why now say we can't change the structure in mid-season?
2. Redo the pitching structure. Instead of 5 SP and 5 RP, why not give GMs the ability to run their own pitching? We suggest streaming pitchers is way less a problem than it has been made out to be. Plus, any streaming problems could easily be handled another way than limiting teams from being able to manage their pitchers as they see fit. We suggest 2 SP, 2 RP and 6 P. Or some variation of that which allows managers to sit starters, use multiple relievers, move arms around as they get added SP/P/RP designations, etc. We doubt we actually have a SP Streaming problem, anyway. But loosening up how each team approaches his pitching would create individual GM interest. A one GM could carry more relievers, another more SP, as they see fit their style. As it stands now, the running of team pitching acts as a strait jacket on GM managing.
3. Let's rethink the LM "situation." Right now, Rob is working in a new job and rightfully has priorities other than running this league. Why not shift/re-think management to a include valuable assets Scott and Tim to more active responsibilities? As it now stands, lots of decisions are put off until "later." We probably could use a more active LM. Or at least that would be the case if we made the changes above that allowed franchise owners to actually run their teams. Maybe loosening the reigns on the league would revitalize this torpid league.
Let's all be less concerned with ;potential negatives and more interested in actively playing a fantasy league. El Guapo is a very active owner. All he really wants is a league that actually has some activity. We are not so keen on going into a four-corners approach to 2015 and beyond. The league was founded on the idea of recruiting the most active owners. Let's allow them to be active and run their own clubs.
