So we're going to daily rosters, but a big part of the weekly rosters was to create realistic pitcher usage (i.e., no streaming through tons of starters to win counting stats, more like a traditional 5 starter roster). People have drafted/traded for that as well. So to keep that going with daily rosters we either need an IP Limit or a Starts Limit. Looking at it, 5 SPs roughly corresponds to 60 IP per week or 7 starts per week, with a little slack built in there with those numbers (not that Fantrax will allow you to go over on Sunday if you are under the limit at the end of Saturday, so it is a soft cap). So curious which people prefer, an IP or Starts Limit. IP limit is a bit more flexible, starts limit, more focused on starters. Note, this will apply to the playoffs, since the regular season is season-long roto, we'll have a separate poll on the regular season and what the limit numbers should be after we decide this.

We weren't so much concerned with streaming (as some others here). We were more concerned that owners have the ability to use their entire pitching staff as they see fit -- being able to sit a guy who is doing poorly, work starters and relievers in and out of the active list, loading up on either starters or relievers once again as the particular owner sees fit, each owner taking advantage of his particular assortment of pitchers rather than being hamstrung by some arbitrary league rule.
A format that would include switching from such a rigid 5 SP/5 RP structure to something more flexible, such as 3 SP/ 3 RP/ 4 P structure would allow owners to run their team as they see fit.
If inning limits or starts limits are gonna be imposed, they should not be so tight as to hamper owners from running their teams. There are injuries to consider; there are dual RP/SP designations to consider; there is also the fact that SP usually throw only once a week, while RP can pitch more often even though sometimes they have to sit because of over-use. The "P" designation for pitchers seems the most flexible and should be incorporated into our roster structure.

good point on the P slots. they didnt work with weekly rosters, but our new daily rosters with a limit thats not an issue. and we can let people do whatever they want under the limit. i would anticipate an adjustment for P slots, lets get this poll out of the way first tho.

Undecided, but I think if my SP gets knocked out early I would hate to use that as a start... so if he does that early week, a second rebound start should be an option instead

Out of the 2 choices I am very much pro innings limit. It just seems more practical, because I imagine if I am lucky to enough to be in the playoffs that I have assembled a team that is pretty balanced between starters and relievers. In my mind, in a week matchup imagining 5 to 7 starts from different guys and an additional 7 innings or so from relievers.
60 seems like a good number as well because it's enough that if they have starters going consistently late into games there is room to account for those innings.

Poll is closed. Overwhelming for going to innings limits for playoffs
