boston might also be targeting david price in 16 if they don't deal for hamels, having a cheap asset like moncada helps them not worry about the luxury tax as much in the future or it allows them to trade other young assets if they wanna go the trade route.

Shhhhhh?
Yankees just let the Orioles win the AL East. And the only team doing anything about it is the Red Sox.
Getting A Rod back is subtraction by addition.
The only thing good for you guys is that Jeter will stop stunting production from the 2 hole. Once Tex and A Rod and Beltran and Father Time roll off the roster then maybe they can chase 28. Until then. Those rings are in the Past. Waaaaaay Past!

The Yankees were given the opportunity to top the Red Sox‘s $31.5MM offer to Yoan Moncada, but declined. “We scouted him extensively for years,” Yankees GM Brian Cashman said. “I feel we put him through the highest level of scouting and medical evaluation. I just wasn’t comfortable offering what we actually offered ($25MM), let alone going any higher.“
For now, the Red Sox will play Moncada at second base, but his eventual position will depend on Boston’s needs in the next couple of years.
